Choreographer, dancer, filmmaker
Thomas Freundlich (b. 1975) graduated from the professional training program of the Finnish National Ballet School in 2001. Since then, he has created some 30 choreographic works encompassing ensemble pieces, solos, contemporary opera, theatre and dance film, and has appeared as a dancer in a dozen countries across the world. Since March 2012, Mr. Freundlich is the co-artistic director of Finland's Loikka dance film festival. (more...)
Dancer and choreographer, Waterline – Neil Owens' experience of performing goes back over twenty years. In that time, he has worked in the mediums of the theatre stage, street performance, TV and film. Lighting designer, Waterline – Elina Romppainen is finishing her M.A. in theatre arts at the Department of Lighting and Sound at the Theatre Academy. She has worked as a freelancer in numerous productions encompassing theatre, opera and dance. Ms. Romppainen works as lighting designer at Kotka City Theatre.
Dancer, Dreamcatcher – Tanja Kuisma (b. 1980) has earned her Master's Degree from the dance department of the Theatre Academy, Helsinki, in the spring of 2003. Ms. Kuisma has danced in Thomas Freundlich's works The Abyss and the Stars, North Star Boogie, Dreamcatcher, Airflow and Sleepless. In Dreamcatcher, she was awarded the 2nd Prize in Dancing at the 9th International Solo-Dance-Theatre Festival, held at TREFFPUNKT Rotebühlplatz, Stuttgart, in March 2005. Lighting designer, Actuator – Mia Kivinen has earned her Master's Degree from the department of lighting and sound design at the Theatre Academy, Finland. She has worked as lighting designer in numerous theatre and contemporary dance productions in Finland, most recently with Satu Tuomisto and Liisa Pentti. Actuator is the first collaboration between Ms. Kivinen and Thomas Freundlich.
